The central speech of the act was delivered by the president of the PRSC, Quique Antún Santo Domingo, RD.- The Christian Social Reform Party (PRSC), proclaimed former President Leonel Fernández on Sunday as his presidential candidate for the 2020 elections.
The act of proclamation was carried out at the Carlos -Teo- Cruz Boxing Coliseum, in the capital, where the PRSC held its Ordinary National Convention, in which hundreds of reformist candidates nominated for the different popular election positions were also proclaimed.
The central speech of the act was delivered by the president and leader of the PRSC, Quique Antún, who was received standing, with great enthusiasm and excitement by all delegates present at the convention.
Quique Antún began by saying that the decision they have taken today reflects the unity and strength that characterizes the great family of the Reform Party.
Start of a great coalition
"Today is a great day because today here and now we start a great coalition for the good of the Dominican Republic led by the Reform Party with someone whom we appreciate and know well in this house, the house of second chances," he said. Quique Antún.
As our great leader Joaquin Balaguer said - he pointed out - "how beautiful life would be if we could repeat it a second time with the experience gained in the first".
“In many surveys, the PRSC appears with more than two digits and we have not stopped climbing because we are not afraid to shout to those who govern. Enough is enough! Enough of impunity! Enough of indolent! Stop insensitive! ”, He said.
He said that the PRSC has not looked the other way "and we have denounced without fear every day that our people are suffering and the Dominican Republic is worse than ever."
"Because we know that we have reached unsustainable limits of decomposition and our country looks more and more like a dictatorship and because we have shouted that our families live in fear and that criminals have taken over the streets," he said.
Quique Antún also indicated that they denounce without fear that every 10 minutes there is a robbery in the Dominican Republic, "and here nobody does anything."
“We live in fear of being assaulted. That they kill our children in any corner. How many more Dominican children have to die so that measures are taken once and for all, ”he said.
He said the usual "have plunged us into a serious crisis and have let millions of Haitians occupy our territory illegally."
Second opportunity
Quique Antún, addressing Leonel Fernández, said: “You are having a second chance to create the conditions to end crime and insecurity; to create jobs, to restore hope to young people and improve health; to combat with drastic measures all forms of corruption, impunity, chaos, disorder with Haitian illegal immigration, the necessary depoliticization of justice ... In short, to break up this unjust system that what it has generated is corruption and inequality in our beloved Dominican Republic. ”
I am sure, convinced and hopeful - the reformist leader continued - that he will not disappoint the country and the great reformist family or the first to break this pact will be me, because the Reform Party has already suffered too much and we will not allow a new disappointment.
The PRSC president said then, looking at the former president, and in the midst of loud and prolonged applause: “Welcome back to the reformist family, dear friend. Today all reformers grant him the honor of representing us as our candidate for the Presidency of the Dominican Republic and we share our congressional and municipal lists with his great team. ”
He also stressed that “Our moment has come, reformist brothers! Together, we will achieve what seems impossible! He introduced them to the new presidential candidate of the Christian Social Reform Party, Leonel Fernández! ”
