Miami, (EFE) .- The American bachatero Romeo Santos, of Dominican origin, beat four Guinness World Records, including the tropical soloist with more copies sold, thanks to his first three solo albums, the organization reported Friday.
The bachatero, former leader of the Aventura group, took that honor thanks to the sales of "Formula: Vol. 1" (2012), "Formula: Vol. 2" (2014) and "Golden" (2017).
Likewise, the composer was also honored with three additional titles that highlight his musical career and his greatest hits, such as "Indecent Proposal".
"Every day we have the privilege of recognizing incredible achievements of people who become official talents of Guinness World Records," said Ralph Hannah, certifier of the New York registry.
"Today we were touched by one of the icons and greats of bachata. Santos, welcome to the family!" Hannah said.
According to Guinness, Santos is the soloist who led the annual Billboard Tropical Albums list for more years by reaching that position five times (2012, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018).
He is also the artist who has remained the most consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs list with "Indecent Proposal", which led this classification for 125 weeks, from August 10, 2013 to December 26, 2015.
Additionally, three Santos albums ended up as number one on the annual Billboard Tropical Albums list during the five years mentioned.
This record is also shared with Aventura, a Dominican music group that he founded in The Bronx with Henry, Max and Lenny.
Together with them he recorded "Immortal", the first single from his fourth solo album, "Utopia", which went on sale this past spring and that could perhaps give him new awards such as those given to him by Guinness World Records.
"Immortal" was the meeting in a recording studio of the members of the Aventura group, active between 1993 and 2011, the architect of his own success in the world of music.
