The team consisted of students Anthony Cruz Hernández, Jessica Reynoso González and Briana González Rodríguez, all from liceo Científico Dr. Miguel Canela Lázaro. In addition, Juan Garrido La Paix of the Cardinal Sancha College and the María Inmaculada Educational Center student Alexa Rodríguez Alcántara.
The students were accompanied by the experts Waldu González (master) and Issac Vasquez, the latter deserving of the Outstanding Mentor. In addition to bronze, Dominicans won the "Safety Award" given to robots that meet all the requirements of the contest and certificates of excellence for the entire delegation.
The event, called first Global Challenge, is known as the Global Robotics Olympics and brings together the best students between the 14 and 18 years of the year from nearly 200 countries, where they compete to demonstrate skills and team intelligence. Of the nine challenges faced by the Creoles they managed to overcome five with optimal results and that earned them bronze.
The team of the Liceo Científico was led by Professor Waldu González and was supported by students Lisbeth González, Erismel Hernández and Luis Rivas, joined by Professor José Enrique Ulloa in the creation of the process of ideation and creation of the robot.
Students, during the days of the competition, demonstrated their technical skills by solving important problems, such as the complete loss of the robot's programming and its English language management capabilities.
For the winning students, this challenge was a further step towards excellence and highlights the work of the Ministry of Education in the inclusion of Information and Communication Technologies in the Dominican education system, highlighting the Republic of Education and the Educational Revolution of President Danilo Medina.
