Marcos Díaz presidirá Convención Internacional contra Dopaje en el Deporte en representación de RD 2019


This was reported by the Permanent Delegation of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), which nominated the Also-Known Dominican Swimunder .

"We want to thank the support we have received from both our Chancellery and its candidacy committee for their vote of confidence," Diaz said.



He went on to say that, "Similarly, I extend my gratitude to our Permanent Delegation of the Dominican Republic to UNESCO, represented by its ambassador, José Antonio Rodríguez, for the efforts of that mission, whose leadership has been focused on giving it value to our domisance, the responsibility they have delegated to me, an action that fills me with joy at once," Diaz said.

On his part, the Dominican ambassador to that United Nations body, emphasized that, "the country possesses in Marcos Díaz, a human being clothed with great virtues, a tireless, disciplined and above all, who has never lost his north, becoming a paradigm for our present and future generations of young people."

Diaz will preside over the Convention in which 188 countries will participate. The Dominican official would be elected as the only candidate for the position.

He has cemented a meritorious career in sport, which includes more than five years holding the seat on the Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency, representing the countries of America.

In May this year, Diaz was just one vote away, to be elected president of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The iconic Dominican athlete has a long history of working in the fight against doping and his motions against the WADA have transcended in the recent past.

In 2011, he was in-house to the International Swimming Hall of Fame by the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame.
