Temístocles Montás affirms PLD will oppose the presidential candidacy of Leonel Fernández 2019

He considered that someone who says he is a defender of the Constitution "cannot violate it like this because" Santo Domingo, RD.- The interim president of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Juan Temístocles Montás, reported Tuesday that the entity will oppose the presidential candidacy of Leonel Fernández for the La Fuerza Pueblo Party for understanding that it violates the Law of Political Parties and the Electoral Regime Law. In that sense, when he was interviewed in the program The Sun of the Morning, which is broadcast from Monday to Friday by Zol FM 1065, the political leader considered that someone who says he is a defender of the Constitution “cannot violate it that way because he can”.

In the consensus of the members of the Political Committee there is a decision to oppose that candidacy because it definitely violates the Law of Parties and the Law of Electoral Regime, "reported Temístocles Montás.

He recalled that when they discussed the law in question, a commission within the Political Committee discussed it and the consensus they reached was that "we had to put cost to transfuguism in the politics of the Dominican Republic and that spirit remained at the level of Congress ".

He said Fernandez knows that point and demonstrates it when he tells his teammates not to leave the PLD because they won.
