After Nicolás Maduro congratulated Alberto Fernández on his triumph in Argentina's presidential election, the Peronist said Latin America must work together to overcome poverty and inequality.
Through social media, Fernández thanked Maduro for extending a congratulations to the Argentine people in past elections.
The new president will take over Argentina in the midst of an economic recession, with high inflation (37.7% as of September) and increased poverty (35.4%), reviewed by the Agency AFP.
Following the election result, the socialist regime expressed "its aspiration to return to the path of relations of mutual respect, comprehensive cooperation and joint work with the new authorities of that country".
Maduro has openly supported Fernandez and his running mate, former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who during his tenures was a political ally of the late president Hugo Chavez.
