Barcelona.- This Saturday a massive march takes place in Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain) because of the recent condemnation of the Supreme Court of Spain to several Catalan independence leaders.
As indicated by the Urban Guard of Barcelona, some 350,000 people participate in the demonstration against the sentence of the so-called 'procés' and in defense of the exercise of self-determination in the region.
Among the activities expected are statements by the relatives of the jailed leaders.
The ruling in question refers to the acts that led to the sovereign referendum of October 1, 2017, declared illegal by the Spanish Constitutional Court, and also the unilateral declaration of independence that was carried out in the Parliament of Catalonia on 27 that same month
Last week, the Spanish Supreme Court sentenced nine secessionist leaders to between 9 and 13 years in jail for sedition following their participation in the 'procés', being the former vice president of the Generalitat Oriol Junqueras on whom the biggest sentence was handed down: 13 years of prison and another 13 disqualification.
